Avalon by Otterbein at Springboro celebrates one year birthday

Avalon by Otterbein at Springboro is a little different than the typical one year old, but that was just fine with the more than 100 guests who attended its birthday and deficiency-free survey celebration Aug. 29. The guests enjoyed games, food, prizes and music.

The Balloon Haus of Springboro came out and made balloon animals, while Avalon by Otterbein provided free hot dogs and cake. In addition, residents and partners at each small house made their own picnic side dish.

According to Avalon by Otterbein Southwest Marketing Coordinator Mark Anderson, "This really proves that when you emphasize family and home that magical moments happen! The elders were out and about enjoying the beautiful sunshine and companionship of their family."

Avalon at Springboro accepts Medicaid and Medicare and is licensed and certified by the Ohio Department of Health. The ODH recently found Avalon by Otterbein at Springboro deficiency free in its first yearly survey.

Avalon by Otterbein is a new, innovative model for rehabilitation and long-term nursing care that encompasses the philosophy of the small houses. Each Avalon neighborhood is able to serve 50 persons daily. In addition to Springboro, Avalon by Otterbein neighborhoods also are located on the Atrium Medical Center campus in Middletown in Warren County and Perrysburg and Monclova in northern Ohio. A third Warren County small house neighborhood is under construction in Hamilton Township.
