The Jane Baker House at Otterbein North Shore achieved an overall rating of five stars in the Medicare 5-Star Rating System for the first quarter of 2010. This rating is an improvement over the previous rating of four out of five stars the facility received.
The Jane Baker House at Otterbein offers specialized short-term rehabilitation stays and inpatient and outpatient therapy (physical, occupational, speech). All guests reside in private rooms with private bathrooms in a small-house setting very similar to a residential home. Care is person-centered with each guest encouraged to exercise decision-making over their day-to-day personal care activities.
The present rating also makes the Jane Baker House the second long-term care facility in Ottawa County to achieve this top honor. The 5-star quality rating system was created to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily. Nursing home ratings are taken from the following three sources of data: health inspections, staffing and quality measures. A star rating is provided for each of these three sources, the three ratings are combined for an overall rating.
"This is a huge accomplishment for our staff and a very difficult honor to achieve,” said Jane Baker House Guide Rhonda Wolpert. “Once again, this rating is because of the hard work and dedication our staff gives to our residents and their families every day.”
The 5-star rating system is not a substitute for visiting the Jane Baker House. This system can give important information, to help consumers compare topics they consider most important and help them think of questions to ask during a visit. Find out more about the 5-star rating at www.medicare.gov. The Jane Baker House is located in Lakeside-Marblehead. It is easily accessible to Ottawa County residents, a 10-minute drive over the Edison Bay Bridge and just a short 10-minute drive from Port Clinton and the Bay Bridge.
Otterbein North Shore is a continuum care retirement community offering independent and assisted living, as well as short-term rehabilitation in the Jane Baker House. For more information, call (419) 798-8203.
