Running on a dream: Local kids qualify for nationals; need sponsors to get there

Otterbein Homes
donates $1,000
to local running club

LEBANON - The Knight Runners, a local running club coached by the Kings High School track coaches, Jim and Lynn Brant of Deerfield Township, have had 11 members of their club earn the honor of being Junior Olympic Track and Field National Qualifiers.

The games are scheduled in Sacramento, Calif. from July 27 to Aug. 1. The qualifiers are Lukas and Taylor Brant, Spencer Bultman, Josh McFerron, Paige Miller and Laura Miniard of Deerfield Township; Blayne Buckler of South Lebanon; Eli Elkins of Hamilton Township; Chelsea and Chloe Shepherd of Mason; and Luke Widdig of Union Township.

The cost for these children to participate in the Junior Olympics is approximately $1,000 per person, which includes airfare, lodging and food. Without the support of local sponsors, Lynn Brant said many of these children are not able to participate in the games. Otterbein Homes has donated $1,000 toward the club’s goal.

Supporters of these athletes are asking for local individuals, businesses and organizations to sponsor them monetarily to enable them to represent the Warren County area in the National Junior Olympics.

To learn more about being a sponsor, call Jim or Lynn Brant at 513-774-0797.
