Hospice care is now an ACHC accredited Otterbein ministry.
We have an emotional bond with our Otterbein residents and their families. We’d like it to remain unbroken. That’s why we’ve developed a hospice care ministry. Should any of our Otterbein family decide not to pursue aggressive medical care at the end of life, we want to be their hospice caregivers. This rings true for any of our Otterbein "families" in the community as well. You don't have to live on the Otterbein campus to have our hospice services. Otterbein Hospice can bring the Otterbein ministry to your family member in any of the 10 counties we service, in any setting. Sending a family member somewhere else at the most important spiritual phase of life doesn’t sit well with us. Their life is with their family and their faith. We want to keep the Otterbein ministry a part of their life, all the way to the end.
We plan to be physically, emotionally and spiritually present to our elders and their loved ones. Our hospice nurses will be caring, responsive, supportive and they will share care options along the journey. Additionally, our aides and social workers will be ensuring comfort as each partner of the hospice team is a critical part of your family member's care team. Our chaplains, as spiritual counselors, will be there with loving guidance and support. The elders, they will be at home, in every sense of the word.
