MEET
A RESIDENT
"It's
a real community."
When Dean and Ellen Froelich decided it was time to downsize
their house and cut down on maintenance, there was no question
that Otterbein Lebanon was the place to find their new home.
The Froelichs
have lived in Lebanon, Ohio for 30 years and have been involved
with Otterbein a large part of that time. “We
have friends who have lived here over years,” explains
Ellen. “We adopted a few of these friends, spending a good
deal of time on campus, and we began to see Otterbein as a wonderful
place for a busy, meaningful life.”
The patio
home the Froelichs live in is a spacious two bedroom with a
two car garage. Their pet, A.J. Cat, made it home immediately. “There
is plenty of room for company,” Ellen says, which is needed
when her three sons and seven grandkids visit from Iowa, Michigan
and Northern Ohio.
“We did not want to move and feel
as if we were starting over,” said Dean. “Our life
has been here.” The Froelichs did not have to change their
doctors or church affiliation, and they have been able to keep
up with long-time friendships. Other friends from the area have
moved to Otterbein, as well, making their new home even sweeter.
Ellen explained
that they never wanted to live somewhere that was not a true
community, with a broad range of ages around you.
A place where you can see the circle of life. “Otterbein
is such a place. It is a village and a place to continue to grow.”
