"Every move is an adventure!"

Rev. Joe and Wilma Ablett

MEET A RESIDENT

No regrets.

When Rev. Joe and Wilma Ablett retired from caring for flocks in up-state Michigan, they built their dream home near Lake Huron. A few years ago, the Abletts decided, though, that it was time to make one last move – to Otterbein Portage Valley.

“ We look at every move as an adventure,” Joe said. Wilma added, “Making decisions while we were most able to do so was a gift to our children.”

The Abletts have taken full advantage of life at Otterbein. Joe coordinates the campus’s transportation needs for outings, and he serves on the Administration Committee, and has served as President of Campus Council. Wilma, a member of the Hospitality Committee, does mending for the laundry.

“Off campus,” Joe says, “We are part of a church in Woodville, and Wilma is part of a quilt group in Pemberville.”

And don’t forget that we bicycle and take exercise programs,” Wilma chimed in. “We gave up cross-country skiing. Just too much else to do!”

Joe replied, “All these and more make this a special place. We have not looked back.”
