About

What are SeniorLife Neighborhoods?

Otterbein’s SeniorLife Neighborhoods provide skilled nursing and rehabilitation for older adults focused on living full and vibrant lives in a home-like setting with family meals and private suites.

The philosophy of small houses fits perfectly with the ethos of Otterbein SeniorLife. These skilled nursing and rehab neighborhoods have been designed to incorporate key values like independence, abundance of choices, and superior quality of care. In 2007, thanks to a gift from Otterbein North Shore resident Jane Baker, Otterbein built its first prototype.

Elders in our small houses live in private suites in a homey environment. Licensed nurses and nursing assistants are on duty 24 hours a day, and there’s an emergency call system, medication administration, therapeutic programming, and short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

Otterbein Small Houses Are Growing!

We’re adding 90 beds total to our existing neighborhoods – paving the way to make our small house philosophy of care more accessible to everyone.

Our Nine SeniorLife Neighborhoods

We have nine locations throughout Ohio, including: Gahanna, Loveland, Maineville, Middletown, Monclova, New Albany, Perrysburg, Springboro, and Union Township.

All of our skilled nursing and rehab neighborhoods are licensed and certified by the Ohio Department of Health, Medicare, and Medicaid. They provide the same standard of care as traditional hospital-like nursing homes. It’s the hearth and heart that makes them different.

Nine neighborhoods after Otterbein’s prototype was built, we hope to continue this wonderful, transformational movement. It makes such a difference. Autonomy, holistic support, and life enjoyment – in a place that inspires connection and affection – are the pillars of the Spirit of Otterbein.
