Five stars is the highest rating that nursing homes can achieve

Otterbein Cridersville Senior Lifestyle Community is 5-Star rated, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Not only does it validate the excellent care that is delivered from day-to-day, but it also recognizes all stakeholders of our community who have dedicated themselves in one or many ways to our mission and ministry. Each one – resident, family member, partner, volunteer, board member, corporate resources and partners and community collaborations – is recognized and rewarded by this awesome outcome.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services created the five-star quality rating system to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily. A five-star rating is the highest rating that nursing homes can achieve. This rating system provides an easy way to understand assessment of nursing home quality, making meaningful distinctions between high and low performing nursing homes. Nationally, 15.9 percent of nursing homes were given five stars, according to a report released in late 2013.

For the community, this five-star rating is another assessment in addition to annual ODH surveys, resident, family and partner surveyors, and many other data-acquisition pieces that recognize and validate the quality of care and excellence that are symbolic of Otterbein. It is especially meaningful and appropriate for the hard working and dedicated partners who commit themselves daily to the Otterbein ideals and standards of performance that yield consistently high results.

This rating reassures and confirms to residents that quality care is a standard and that Otterbein partners are expected to deliver this excellence consistently.

In addition to Cridersville, Otterbein locations with five stars include Lebanon, Maineville, North Shore, St. Marys and Portage Valley. Otterbein locations with four stars include Middletown and Perrysburg.
